Salem witch trials are a series of investigations and deaths in American history. This event caused lots of losses and a lot of imprisonment. This occurred because of a few “innocent” girls. Yes, these girls are the reason that caused 20 deaths, and 114 arrests! On top of this, many people died in prison! You may now be thinking, "What did the children do?". What they did was have fits and contortions and uncontrollable outbursts of screaming. These symptoms were first seen on 9-year-old Elizabeth (Betty) Parris and 11-year-old Abigail Williams, daughter and niece of Samuel Parris, minister of Salem Village. William Griggs, a local doctor, diagnosed bewitchment in these girls. From then onward other girls in the community started to have these similar symptoms. The girls started accusing few people of being witches, and people who refused to be witches were hung for lying and if they admitted to being witches, they were imprisoned. After the first three witches were accused, more were on the way and this hysteria spread to all of Salem. But when you see the world from the colonists' perspective everything seemed right. The witches got what they deserved. On their mind when innocent die they think it is better to be sure than to risk it. It is a good thing to find and get rid of witches in their minds. But how did their mindset change as time went by?
